In autumn, late winter and early spring are good times to make this trip. January, February...offer good conditions: There is no heavy rain but there is sometimes fog in the high mountains. It's a little cold. Landscapes are less green compared to summer.
March, April and May are favorable. It's not very warm. It does not rain much.

Day1: Hanoi - Mai Chau: 140 km: Mai Chau, an idyllic valley in the north, is one of the most popular destinations of the North Vietnam motorbike tour to plunge yourself into nature and discover the life of the Thai people, one of 54 ethnic groups living in Vietnam. All travelers in Mai Chau will have the opportunity to experience the pleasant sensation as they plunge into the green color of clouds, mountains and huge rice fields.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Moc Chau – Son La: 190 km: Moc Chau Plateau is located 60 km from Mai Chau. Situated at more than 1000 m of altitude, Moc Chau is famous for the beautiful mountains, the valleys, the tea plantations, the breeding of the dairy cows, the waterfalls, the plantation of the fruit trees, the authentic villages of the minority ethnic groups…
You continue the road surrounded by beautiful landscapes, charming villages of local ethnic people to reach Son La, a small provincial town.
Day 3: Son La - Dien Bien Phu: 180 km: You will cross the charming country of the Thai people to go to Dien Bien Phu. But firstly, you will conquer the Pha Din pass, one of the four most beautiful mountain passes in the northwest. The Pha Din Pass is located on the road from Hanoi to Dien Bien Phu, on the border between Son La and Dien Bien Phu. With an average height of more than 1000m, the winding road meanders over the mountains, one side is vertical cliffs and another side is the deep abyss. The conquest of the Pha Din pass is one of the most memorable memories of the Vietnam motorbike tour.
The Dien Bien Phu Valley is known by the historic battle in 1954 between Vietnamese troops or Viet Minh Army commanded by General Vo Nguyen Giap and the French army commanded by General Christian de Castries. The Battle of Dien Bien Phu completed the role of the French people in the Indochina Peninsula and led to the signing of the agreement to further divide Vietnam into two regions: North and South. Remnants of the military battle were officially added to the list of Historical Remains at the national level in 1962: General Vo Nguyen Giap's Command Post, Dien Bien Phu Museum, General De Castries Command Post, Hill A1, the Muong Thanh Bridge, the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, the memorial of the French soldiers...
Day 4: Dien Bien Phu - Lai Chau – Tam Duong - Sapa: 270 km: You follow the road along the Nam Na River to go Lai Chau through the villages of the ethnic groups as Thai, Hmong, Dao...The landscapes are wild. Before arriving in Sapa, you pass the O Quy Ho Pass, one of the four most beautiful mountain passes in northern Vietnam. The legendary pass has a length of almost 50 km with majestic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
